Tobacco Tax Referendum Petition Certified

The Canvass Board finalized their petition canvassing
process last night, Wednesday, August 3, at approximately 7:30 p.m.

The report reads as follows:

Total number of signatures of persons signing petition: 3628

Total number of signatures required to approve petition: 1788

Number of signatures reviewed: 2428

Number of signatures counted: 1790

Number of signatures not counted: 491

Number of signatures questioned: 147

Anomalies reported: A few (small number) of petition booklets were
disassembled and were returned incomplete (not containing all of the
necessary components required by statute to be circulated through the
petition process). Those books that had been unstapled, were properly
notarized, and were kept whole (meaning all pieces of the book were present)
were counted if signed by verified registered voters.

This is the official notice that the tobacco tax referendum question will be
placed on the ballot for the October 4, 2005, regular Borough election.
