Service areas will have to vote on mil rate increases

Palmer-- Thanks to the passage of the amended Tax Cap Ordinance, Mat-Su Service Areas will now be required to vote on mil rate increases for services and equipment expenditures. In the past, service area boards would recommend the increases and then forward them to the Assembly for approval. There are about 30 road and fire service areas. I am sure the Clerks office is really going to enjoy this additional burden of preparing the extra ballots for these service area votes.
