and Nomination of AIP Candidate for Governor
The Resolution Standing Committee reviewed a proposal allowing Alaskan
High School students to receive upon graduation, fee simple title for five to ten acres of State land.
The proposal posed several ways to achieve the selection and transfer of those lands. The Resolutions Committee voted to support the proposal and agreed to work for its implementation as a possible Ballot Initiative.
Nomination of Gubernatorial Race Candidates for AIP
Alaskan Independence Party member, Ed Burke, addressed the membership and State Party Committee. (Jerry Sanders was a possible Lt. Governor candidate, but has since declined that Nomination.) Mr. Burke, however, has accepted the Partys nomination and sanction of his candidacy. On May 12, Mr. Burke, filed for Alaskas highest and most important office, as the Alaskan Independence Partys candidate for Governor. Two names of interest for the Lt Governor office have been forwarded to the Chairman for contact. Party officials are aware of the June 1st filing deadline and are confident a Lt Governor candidate will announce and file.
Election of New Officers
Traditionally the last order of business, the Nominations Committee opened the floor for nominations of Executive Committee leadership of the Alaskan Independence Party. For the position of Chairman of AIP, Lynette Clark was nominated and by unanimous consent approved. Mark Chryson and Dexter Clark were voted Regional Vice-Chairman, south and north. Rita Leake stood for the position of State Secretary and was approved by the membership. Linda Winkelamn was voted to the position of State Treasurer. Dee Roberts, remained in position as State Party Parliamentarian
